Job description

Horizontal directional drilling (HDD) has revolutionized installation of America’s massive underground infrastructure of gas pipe, electric lines, fiber optic cable, and more. Position Overview: We are looking for a skilled Electrical/Electronics Engineer who is passionate about electronics, and possesses a strong understanding of electronic systems, components, and troubleshooting techniques.

Electrical/Electronics Engineer Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain hardware and software for battery powered embedded systems
  • Design, prototype, and test embedded hardware
  • Document designs in schematic capture
  • Design and lay out printed circuit boards
  • Design, develop, code, test, and debug system software on embedded targets
  • Expert in embedded C and/or C++
  • Troubleshoot electronic systems, identify root causes, and develop corrective actions
  • Experience with soldering and repair of surface mount electronics
  • Proficiency with basic hand and power tools
  • Proficiency with multimeters, soldering stations, oscilloscopes
  • Excellent analytical, problem solving, and decision-making skills
  • Good oral and written communication skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office

Preferred skills and qualifications

  • Power electronics experience
  • Experience with embedded RTOS
  • Microsoft .NET experience

Education and Experience Requirements

  • BS in Electrical or Electronics Engineering from an accredited university
  • Minimum 4 years experience with hardware and embedded software development
  • Proven record of developing embedded hardware and software
