Regional Territory Sales Manager

Position Overview:

This is a hybrid role for a Regional Territory Sales Manager based in the Des Moines, Iowa area. The individual will be responsible for managing direct sales to HDD contractors, utilities, and dealers within the territory, building and maintaining strong customer relationships, developing new business opportunities, and providing field training and support after the sale.

The Midwest region is one of Underground Magnetics’ strongest territories, and we are looking for someone who can continue building on that success while staying closely connected to our headquarters in Johnston, Iowa.

Candidates would ideally live in the Des Moines metro area. Relocation assistance available.

Qualifications:

  • Excellent communication and customer service skills
  • Experience in sales with emphasis on outside prospecting
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to work independently and remotely
  • Demonstrated ability to grow B2B sales in an assigned territory
  • Experience in the HDD industry is a plus
  • CRM experience preferred
  • Overnight travel within the territory of ~50%

Product Support Representative

Job Description/Expectations

Position Overview:
The Product Support Representative is responsible for overall guidance, support, and expertise on designated locator systems, with respect to both internal UMAG employees and external UMAG customers. This role requires a dynamic, self-motivated individual who can gather information from multiple sources and condense it into a helpful, understandable form that’s easy to communicate. The ideal candidate will understand both utility and HDD locating systems, their operation, troubleshooting, and the best practices for day-to-day use. This position reports to the National Sales Director and is based at our headquarters in Johnston, Iowa. Relocation assistance is available.

Key Responsibilities

  • Troubleshooting:
    • Assist field sales reps with inbound customer troubleshooting, as well as strategic planning for demos and other sales activities.
    • Act as the in-house expert on product features, comparisons, and best practices for use in the field.
    • Constantly expand knowledge of competitive products for use in marketing UMAG locator systems to end users.
  • Relationship Management:
    • Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with UMAG service and engineering departments.
    • Act as a primary point of contact for software updates and releases, ensuring any changes are communicated clearly and in a timely manner to UMAG employees and customers as needed.
    • Act as liaison between end users and UMAG office, ensuring clear communication and conflict resolution when needed.
    • Maintain frequent communication with local territory reps regarding product support, issues, changes, and new releases.
  • Travel:
    • Up to 25% domestic travel is required.
      • Site visits with drilling crews.
      • Ride-along visits with field sales reps to gain familiarity with products, end-users, and dealers.
      • Additional travel, visits, and industry events may be arranged at management or territory sales reps’ request.
  • Reporting and Analysis:
    • Prepare and present regular reports on product performance, failure trends, and customer/rep feedback to senior management.
    • Utilize data from the field and Acumatica Support & CRM systems to inform decision-making and product improvements/development.

Qualifications:

  • Experience: previous HDD and/or utility locating industry experience required, field-based experience preferred
  • Skills: strong phone & computer skills including cold calling, extended troubleshooting, and structured follow-ups, ability to work independently, ability to collaborate with others in an office environment, ability to defuse tense situations, clean driving record required, ability to travel by air domestically and secure a rental vehicle required
  • Education: high school degree or GED required, college a plus
  • Languages: bilingual (English-Spanish) preferred for customer support
